Our Beginings

Dr. Thomas Arkle began practicing orthodontics in Charlotte in 1983.  A native of Morgantown, West Virginia, he was pleased to call Charlotte home and created a thriving orthodontic practice in East Charlotte and University City.  He practiced independently as Arkle Orthodontics until 2004.  At that time, Dr. Arkle invited Dr. Chris Harris to join his team. As a native of Mint Hill and a former patient of Dr. Arkle, Dr. Harris quickly integrated into the practice.  Dr. Harris exemplified all of the characteristics Dr. Arkle knew his patients would expect and appreciate.  He excelled at his academic studies and graduated from a highly recognized orthodontic program at UNC-Chapel Hill.  Dr. Arkle and Dr. Harris had several professors in common during their training making it a very easy transition when their talents were joined.  Arkle & Harris Orthodontics continued for almost 11 years.

After 32 years practicing orthodontics, Dr. Arkle begin a new chapter in his life and retired from Arkle & Harris Orthodontics in April 2015.  Since that time, Dr. Harris became the sole orthodontic provider and therefore renamed the practice to Harris Orthodontics.  The legacy of exceptional service and spectacular smiles that began with Dr. Thomas Arkle continues today.  We are proud of our history and the individuals that have shaped the atmosphere at Harris Orthodontics.
